The editors for our comrades at Monkey Smashes Heaven have published a declaration of policy on linking to various groupings around “M”IM, the organization formerly known as MIM. MSH has fashioned a reasonable policy on this matter. Their policy maintains politics in command while avoiding sectarianism. Shubel Morgan is in full agreement with MSH’s declaration. We are adopting in full measure their policy on this matter:
We are disappointed in the opportunism of the various Maoist groupings who saw the degeneration of etext over this past year and said nothing. Just because the etext group was the center of first world cyber Maoism for decades does not excuse their behavior this past year or so, nor does it excuse opportunist silence. Those who were living in caves this past year or came late to the show may not have witnessed etext’s terrible behavior. We don’t enjoy making these kinds of announcements that many people won’t understand. Our apologies to those who are confused by this announcement.
Etext and their Art Minister engaged in various wrecking activities against the revolutionary movement. Their behavior ranged from senile to piggish. Etext has deleted much of this material from their web page, although it is still available through various archiving sites. We support their deletion of the material, which was embarrassing to Maoism as a whole. To rehash what went on would cast a shadow on Maoism generally at this point. Plus, etext’s behavior was so self-evidently wrong that there is little point in going into the minutia. The problematic material was posted by the etext Chair, Security Minister and Art Minister (“The Chair can order this cell [the Art Minister] to do whatever she wants whenever she wants.”).
In addition, their Art Minister exhibits systematic line problems ranging from crypto-Trotskyist to liberal. However, these systematic line problems were overshadowed by his outright paranoid, stupid and bizarre behavior. When all is said and done, the systematic line problems of their Art Minister pale in comparison to the damage being done by his paranoid deluded rants and videos, which have an overall discrediting effect on Maoism. Etext coddled him and to this day has not seriously denounced his behavior.
In any case, the etext web page and MIM Theories as a whole are still valuable resources, even if they contain various errors. We understand why people would link to such materials. We have had a de facto policy of not directly linking etext at all and not linking web pages that do so. We are changing part of that policy:
1. We will now link Maoist web pages that have a proven proletarian practice even if they link to etext as a mere resource. Those sites that continue to give etext and its wrecking ball personalities any political authority will not be linked. In other words, it’s okay to link etext, but just as a resource. If there is an ambiguity about whether a Maoist web page links to etext as a mere resource or not, we will not link them. As a resource, etext is about 70% correct.
2. We will not post a link to the etext’s main page without identifying etext as a formerly Maoist organization that lost its vanguard status by engaging in wrecking activity and taking up revisionism. We may link without explanation to individual pages at etext’s site if we consider them to be correct and useful.
3. We also do not build up long lists of miscellaneous links the way many “leftist” organizations do.
4. Organizations that wish to be linked can email us.
That said, we feel sad that etext has so degenerated. We feel angry that such an institution of the oppressed has been wrecked.
